Position Summary: The Serverless Software Engineer position is a challenging and influential role.  You will interact directly with Product Management, Software Engineering, System Operations, and the Architecture Team to discover, clarify and understand product and solution requirements and then participate in the planning and implementation of the required solutions. Development will involve individual programming as well as working within a team.  The solutions must adhere to highly available architectures and automated software testing techniques.  As our Serverless Software Engineer, you will be proficient in direct stakeholder interactions and support activities. You must adhere to a highly disciplined development methodology, be attentive to detail and focused on delivery of highly reliable and available applications. You should be naturally interested in a diverse set of technologies including (but not limited to) AWS Lambda, API Gateway, AWS RDS (Aurora, PostgreSQL), Front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML, and CSS), Web Services (SOAP and REST), containerization (Docker and Kubernetes), monitoring toolkits (New Relic, DataDog) and automated build tools (Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible). Responsibilities: Meet with stakeholders and product management personnel to define, review, elaborate and document system requirements (including user interface, functional and non-functional requirements). Provide effective support that delights customers (second and third level support). Design effective and efficient technical solutions. Perform a thorough impact analysis where changes are being made to existing applications (to ensure breakage in existing functions is minimized). Produce code with low defect rates. Meet target delivery dates. Practice Agile development techniques. Create architectural and code-level documentation. Share your business and technical knowledge across teams. Resolve complex business and technical problems. Report, monitor and resolve software defects. Develop and implement software that supports interoperability. Participate in peer code reviews. Review test objectives and test cases. Comply with all applicable Juvare company policies. Perform duties as assigned. Qualifications: 3+ years relevant work experience. 1+ years AWS or Azure implementations of serverless technologies. Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design and microservice architecture. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline. Skills/Knowledge: Prior experience working in an agile development environment. Database design and implementation experience. Knowledge of Object-oriented principles of abstraction, inheritance, polymorphism. Ability to quickly research and demonstrate potentially useful architectures, frameworks and technologies. Prior use of dependency analysis for software component interactions. Object-oriented programming using PHP, Python, or Java. Prior unit and frontend testing experience. Experience with Web services technologies such as REST and SOAP. Demonstrated ability to optimize software performance and scalability. Document system requirements, including user interface, functional and non-functional behavior. Skilled at using continuous integration and automated build tools such as Jenkins and Ansible. Capacity to self-manage multiple projects, tasks and objectives while meeting assigned deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated analytic and methodical problem-solving skills. Ability to rapidly absorb and implement new technologies and procedures.
