Software Developer

Are you a passionate and dedicated software developer? Would you like to become part of our talented and innovative development team specialized in developing the food processing robotics of the future?


We are currently looking for a skilled and ambitious software developer for our Innovation department in Aarhus, who will participate in the software development of our future products pertaining to the product category; Robotics.


Your Team

You will join a strong, competent and ambitious team consisting of three mechanical developers and nine software developers who all – in close collaboration with the rest of our organization - develop new and innovative products to make sure that we continue to set the high standard of our industry. High stability and team members who will be able to provide you with valuable sparring and guidance when needed characterize your team. You will report directly to our Innovation Manager Robotics, Henrik Kristiansen.


Your Role and Tasks

In the development team, we use agile methods to ensure a dynamic product development and a continuous improvement of our team’s working methods. Your team is divided into three focus areas; 1) the mechanical team, 2) the core team, and 3) the solution team, and your position pertains to the core team, whose focus is on developing the novel and innovative solutions of the future. You will be involved in the development process from A-Z – right from the preliminary idea phase and all the way up to implementation and submission of the final product. Furthermore, you will get to work in an international environment and collaborate with many different stakeholders across Marel – especially our other development teams working abroad (primarily in Iceland, The Netherlands, UK and USA).

You will:

  • Participate in cross organizational project teams to develop new solutions within Robotics
  • Participate in design, implementation and testing of software modules and software features
  • Analyze requirements and write design specifications for software modules and software features
  • Contribute to team collaboration and build team spirit
  • This role may also include some customer-site work related to new product releases, support and training of other employees.


Your Qualifications

We imagine that you hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering with a focus on software, robotics or similar. You bring solid experience in software development and you are well-versed in C++ programming. If you have previously combined these skills with robotics it will be an advantage.

Furthermore, we hope that you:

  • Are experienced in Linux, ROS2 and C++
  • Are experienced in automated testing frameworks
  • Are experienced in object oriented analysis and design
  • Possess good design and coding skills with the ability to pick up new languages, tools and design patterns
  • Are familiar with Agile software development frameworks
  • Possess good groundings in source control management, i.e. Git
  • Have the ability to work effectively in teams
  • Are result-driven with good analytical skills
  • Having experience with the following disciplines and tools will be an advantage:
  • Knowledge of GNU tools and shell scripting
  • Development and debugging in multi-threaded real time applications
  • Software design patterns
  • Design and implementation of communication protocols
  • UML analysis- and design documentation
  • Tools like, git, Jenkins, Jira and Confluence
  • Unittest-frameworks like gtest
  • QT for development of UI
  • “Continuous Integration” (Unittest, automatic test of UI, integration test, deployment test etc.)
