The Red Hat Python Maintenance team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us. The international team is based in Brno, Czech Republic, but it has remote members, and we’re open to remote candidates as well. In this role, you will work as part of a team of experienced developers to deliver components for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora distributions. You will help us maintain Linux packages with the Python interpreter for Fedora Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), as well as maintain and contribute to various Python ecosystem tools like pip, pytest, setuptools, tox, Sphinx, and pipenv and their Python dependencies. In Fedora, the work happens out in the open in Fedora’s Python SIG. Fedora is an innovative open source community project where you’ll help us integrate new versions of Python early and fast. Comparatively, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is a stable environment where you’ll help us ensure that our customers receive recent bug fixes even on old Python versions. As a Software Engineer, you will work closely with our communities, which include the Python ecosystem, Fedora Project, and the EPEL and CentOS communities. You’ll take part in shaping the future of Python on Linux. When maintaining third-party projects, you will often contribute to them. Apart from that, you will also help us develop our own open source software focused on automation, containers, integration tools, validators, metadata extractors, and more.
