The Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Distribution team in the Red Hat Enterprise Experience and Delivery (EXD) organization is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will contribute code to Red Hat's mission-critical systems as well as deliver content to external Red Hat customers and partners. You will help us build the next-generation cloud-native distribution pipeline for Red Hat's portfolio of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) offerings. You will partner with quality engineering (QE) colleagues to develop code for the pipeline. Being a member of the EXD organization is about having a passion for new technologies, and their real-world application and management. This is a unique opportunity to work in a DevOps team that is constantly evolving the most sophisticated enterprise-class Linux distribution system in the world. Because the team owns a broad collection of tools, engineers on our team have the opportunity to experience a number of different programming languages and technologies.   • Maintain and extend tools owned by Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Distribution team
  • Participate in delivering content to Red Hat customers and partners
  • Collaborate with upstream open source communities on relevant projects
  • Help the team adopt continuous integration (CI) and continuous development (CD) methodologies
  • Improve the tools and processes used to deliver Red Hat solutions to customers; ensure those tools are robust, reliable, and ready for the next generation of open source technologies
  • Collaborate with users of our tools and other stakeholders to find solutions to their problems
  • Develop, document, and test software using sound development practices
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Practical experience with Python programming
  • Experience with Linux or UNIX command line tools and utilities; UNIX shell knowledge (Bash), command line text processing (grep, awk, sed, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to help define, follow, and enforce processes
  • Ability to work under pressure, for example participating and fixing issues during product releases

The following are considered a plus:

  • Previous experience with Jenkins and Ansible
  • Familiarity with unit testing frameworks and methodologies
  • Familiarity with agile methodology
  • Previous code contributions to open source projects or code samples on GitHub
