Job Description

This position is located in the Enterprise Solutions Service, Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT/ESS) in Valencia, Spain.The incumbent reports to an Information Systems Officer within OICT/ESS.

ResponsibilitiesUnder the direct supervision of the Information Systems Officer and general supervision of the Enterprise Solutions Service Chief, the Information Systems Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Provides basic technical support for Drupal websites.
  • Installs and configure Drupal components (themes, modules) for Drupal websites according to specifications.
  • Provides basic support in the planning, specification, design, development, implementation and maintenance of Drupal websites; works with senior IT staff on the definition and specification of requirements; builds, tests and modifies prototype Drupal websites based on detailed instructions.
  • Supports senior staff in the creation and maintenance of deployed Drupal Websites; assists in the preparation of technical and user documentation, as well as in the production of training materials.
  • Provides support on website development matters, including security, data integrity and recovery; assists with needs assessment for new systems (including modifications to existing systems); performs ongoing reviews with users and developers and responds to requirements; requests, implements, provides operational support and maintains various applications.
  • Maintains regular contact with users and technical staff in user offices and provides support as required.
  • Conducts research on new technologies as requested; keeps abreast of developments in the field; assists in testing and evaluating new Drupal components (themes and modules).
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required. A first-level university degree in computer science, information technology or a relevant field is desirable.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in information systems analysis and programming, software development, and maintenance is required.2 years of experience in the development (themes and modules) and configuration (content type, views) of Drupal websites are required.2 years of coding experience in PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript and other web development tools are required.One year of experience with unit testing, git and Agile development is required.Experience with information security compliance is highly desirable.Experience in assisting with the development of responsive websites using frameworks such as Bootstrap is desirable.Experience with REST API integration is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language, particularly Spanish, is an advantage.
