Cambridge Cancer Genomics are a leading precision medicine start-up creating intelligent software to enable oncologists to monitor response to cancer therapy in near real-time. The high-calibre team uses applied bioinformatics, machine learning, genomics, and the experience of our associated oncologists and surgeons to bring low invasive ‘liquid biopsies’ to cancer clinics worldwide. This role is in developing and maintaining NGS bioinformatics pipelines and software, to a production-level standard, for use the core precision oncology product offering. Main duties and responsibilities: • You will lead a small team of software engineers and bioinformaticians. • You will maintain’s current cloud-based bioinformatics architecture. • You will maintain’s current software web app. • You will develop and scale new bioinformatics pipelines to deliver a variety of analyses on a range of data types. Essential skills and qualifications: • Experience in bioinformatics or computational biology, in applying and/or developing bioinformatics tools for NGS-omics datasets • Experience developing software for a large customer base, and a solid understanding of software development best practices • Experience leading a team • Excellent Python skills and writing of production-level code • Excellent knowledge and experience of AWS systems • Working knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript) • Experience with REST/RESTful APIs • Data and database management (SQL/NoSQL) • Working knowledge of versioning systems such as Git • Experience in continuous integration, testing and deployment • Good communication to both technical and non-technical team members Benefits include: • Working on world-changing technology with leaders in the field • Dynamic, innovative, passionate, entrepreneurial team • Inclusive company culture • Flexible hours (outside of core hours) This is a permanent role based in Cambridge, with a salary up to £55K + equity.
