As an AI Engineer, youll be the architect and builder who transforms ambitious AI use cases into robust, production-ready solutions. Your work will directly impact how people interact with technology, ensuring reliability, safety, and usability at every step.What Youll Be DoingTranslate functional needs into concrete, production-ready AI solutions integrated into business applications and processes.Design and build AI functionality for use cases such as intelligent assistance, document processing, summarization, information extraction, classification, and knowledge discovery.Implement solutions using generative AI, LLMs, retrieval/grounding, and open-source frameworks (Hugging Face, LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.), prioritizing reliability, safety, and user experience.Integrate AI components with internal applications, APIs, data sources, and document flows, ensuring robust and secure connections within existing workflows.Collaborate with development, security, and business teams to deliver secure, maintainable, and auditable AI implementations.Set up and maintain evaluation frameworks to measure AI solution quality, relevance, accuracy, consistency, and safety.Develop and refine test scenarios, regression tests, and review flows for AI functionality, iterating based on evaluation results.Productionize AI services: transition POCs to live environments, manage deployments, version control, and operational monitoring (logging, tracing, latency, error rates, usage, inference costs).Identify and resolve issues related to performance, reliability, cost, and quality in production environments.Document implementations, limitations, and operational considerations, sharing knowledge and best practices with multidisciplinary teams.What Were Looking ForProven mastery of Python for AI service development, retrieval pipelines, and backend integrations.Solid operational knowledge of C#/.NET for designing API contracts and collaborating with .NET-based development teams.Experience translating AI use cases into secure, reliable, and maintainable production solutions.Strong analytical and systematic thinking, with a pragmatic, results-oriented approach.Ownership mindset: you take responsibility for technical implementation and quality within your domain.Awareness of compliance, ethics, and governance in AI systems, especially regarding LLM risks (hallucinations, bias, data leaks).Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable in multidisciplinary, bilingual (French/Dutch) environments.Curious learner, eager to translate new AI techniques into practical applications.Technical SkillsPython (Confirmed)C# / .NET (Junior)APIs, SDKs, and system integrations (Junior)Generative AI and LLM-based applications (Junior)Retrieval/grounding, prompt-based flows, and output structuring (Junior)Document processing, information extraction, classification, or knowledge discovery (Junior)SQL and data processing in production context (Junior)Integration of AI components in applications and internal systems (Junior)Logging, tracing, monitoring, and observability for AI applications (DynaTrace, Opentelemetry) (Junior)CI/CD, version control, and AI service deployment (Junior)Best practices for algorithmic regulation (explainability, bias, LLM governance) (Junior)Implementation of AI solutions in an on-premises environment (Junior)Containerization, cloud services, or AI platform services (nice to have)Evaluation frameworks, structured outputs, or document intelligence (nice to have)Vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval patterns (nice to have)Language ProficiencyFluency in either French or DutchAbility to understand the second language (French or Dutch)Other RequirementsExperience working in Agile SAFe or similar multidisciplinary environmentsHybrid work regime: 2 days onsite in Brussels, 3 days remote per weekFreelance contract for 8 monthsReady to build the future?
